May 2009
June 2009
Early Summer Cruise -Pete Jackson, John Day and I will be arriving on board  Dancing Demon in Barmouth, on the evening of Friday 22nd May.
We will looking at setting sail at about 06.30 Hrs on the Saturday, with the intention of arriving at Carlingford Lough at about 18.00 Hrs on the Sunday evening.
We will look at staying there and cruising around the Lough until approx. Wednesday morning and then heading off for the Isle of Man arriving Wednesday afternoon.
We will either rest and look around IOM or cruise around. We will be looking at leaving  Friday morning when we will set off to arrive back in Barmouth on the Saturday afternoon.
The leg to Carlingford Lough will take about 32 hrs and the leg from Isle of Man to Barmouth will take approx 28 Hrs.   This is weather permitting.
I will be looking at setting up a track of the boats progress so you can see its movements as we go, by looking on the DD page of the website.
Summer Cruise - This is going to be an interesting cruise, firstly I will be sailing with Andy Anderson, his brother-in-law and one of his friends, and secondly I will be sailing in Andy’s yacht called Madrigal one of the last Westerly Merlin's made. She is a 29 ft twin keeler built in 1991 with a displacement of 3,490Kg.
We are looking, weather willing, to leave Burnt Island on Saturday the 6th of June heading North towards Stonehaven and then on towards Peterhead, then up around the the corner towards Lossiemouth, Inverness and then down the Caledonian canal and onto towards the west coast and then to a small Marina just south of Oban. ( www.ardoran.co.uk ) .
This trip is fantastic as we will be sailing past places I grew up in and calling into place where I went to school.

The Caledonian Canal is celebrating its 200 th year anniversary to commercial shipping this year.  We catch the beginning part of the celebrations as we will be going Fort William just as the celebrations will be starting.  As I have mentioned on the  home page, this canal was built by the renowned designer and builder from Scotland Thomas Telford, ( 1757 -1834 ) He is also famous for the Menai Suspension Bridge, joining Anglesey to the rest of North Wales, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, in Shropshire, St Katherin’s dock in London and the Gota Canal in Sweeden.  In fact Thomas Telford in 20 yrs managed to build over 1000 miles of roads, 120 bridges, plus countless miles of canals.  Pontcysyllte Aqueduct was described by Sir Walter Scot as “the most impressive work of art I have ever seen”.
I think he has to be ranked amongst the growing list of World Famous Scots.
